Best Practices for KDS Users

  • Commercial kitchens are harsh environments for electrical equipment. Procedures should be established with kitchen staff that includes instructions that extra care must be used when cleaning the areas around screens, outlets and peripheral equipment so as not to cause damage.

  • Some operators have found success covering screens and related equipment with plastic food wrap film prior to cleaning. Although effective in providing protection for the equipment this method also creates a new waste stream and adds a recurring, albeit small, expense to the cost of the system.

  • All screen users must be advised to NOT use anything but fingertips to touch input devices. Touching screens or bump bars with kitchen implements such as spoons or spatulas should be strictly forbidden.
